Black Fancy Tiger is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its bold black and white coloration and distinctive Tiger-style patterning. The photographed shrimp displays strong dark pigmentation broken by broad white bands and irregular markings across the body, creating pronounced contrast from head to tail. White pigmentation is also visible through portions of the legs, adding further detail to the phenotype. Individual Black Fancy Tiger shrimp can naturally vary in black coverage, white pattern placement and overall pattern density, making this an attractive ornamental line for Caridina collectors, breeders and planted aquarium displays.
Black Fancy Tiger shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable soft-water conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain the low KH and mildly acidic environment preferred by Fancy Tiger Caridina. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid rapid changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Careful acclimation and consistent water chemistry help support healthy moulting, long-term maintenance and breeding, with stability taking priority over continually adjusting parameters.
