Black Galaxy is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its deep black pigmentation and contrasting white Galaxy patterning. The photographed shrimp displays strong dark coverage with bright white bands and irregular markings extending across the head, carapace and abdomen. The combination creates a detailed, high-contrast appearance while retaining the characteristic Galaxy phenotype. Individual Black Galaxy shrimp can naturally vary in black intensity, white coverage, pattern density and marking placement, giving each specimen its own distinctive expression.
Black Galaxy shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled soft-water aquarium with stable conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain low KH and mildly acidic conditions. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Careful acclimation and consistent water chemistry support healthy moulting, long-term maintenance and breeding.
