Blue Boa is a selectively bred Caridina shrimp prized for its deep blue-to-black coloration and intricate contrasting Boa pattern. The supplied image shows a dark-bodied shrimp with vivid turquoise-blue markings concentrated across the head, back and upper body, creating a striking high-contrast appearance. Blue Boa patterns and colour intensity can vary considerably between individuals and may continue developing as shrimp mature. This distinctive combination makes Blue Boa an eye-catching ornamental shrimp for dedicated Caridina displays and selective breeding colonies.
Blue Boa should be kept in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable soft, acidic water. An active buffering substrate and remineralised RO/DI water are commonly used to maintain suitable Caridina conditions. Provide established biofilm, grazing surfaces and a balanced shrimp diet, while avoiding overfeeding and sudden changes in temperature, TDS or water chemistry. Consistency is particularly important with selectively bred Boa shrimp, so acclimate carefully and perform controlled water changes rather than chasing exact parameter numbers.
