Blue Fancy Tiger is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its dark body colour and contrasting blue Tiger-style patterning. The photographed shrimp displays a deep black base broken by irregular pale-to-bright blue bands and markings across the abdomen, head and legs. The blue areas create a cool-toned contrast against the darker pigmentation, giving this Fancy Tiger variety a particularly distinctive appearance under aquarium lighting. Individual Blue Fancy Tiger shrimp can naturally vary in blue intensity, dark coverage, pattern placement and overall density, making each specimen visually unique while retaining the characteristic Fancy Tiger phenotype.
Blue Fancy Tiger shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable soft-water conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain the low KH and mildly acidic environment preferred by Fancy Tiger Caridina. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid rapid changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Careful acclimation and consistent water chemistry help support healthy moulting, long-term maintenance and breeding, with stability taking priority over continually adjusting parameters.
