Orange Boa is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its warm orange coloration and intricate Boa patterning across the body. Dense irregular markings create a highly detailed appearance, with pattern placement, coverage and colour intensity varying naturally between individuals. Selected specimens may develop particularly complex markings and stronger orange expression, while others show more translucent areas between the pattern. This distinctive combination makes Orange Boa an appealing ornamental shrimp for Caridina collectors and breeders, especially in planted aquariums where its warm coloration provides strong contrast against darker substrates, mosses and greenery.
Orange Boa shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable soft-water conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain the low KH and mildly acidic environment preferred by specialised Caridina. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces, supplemented with a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid rapid changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Consistent water chemistry and good water quality are more important than continually adjusting parameters to reach exact numbers, especially when maintaining a colony for long-term health and breeding.
