Red Boa is a selectively bred Caridina shrimp known for its deep red coloration and intricate cream-to-white Boa patterning. The shrimp shown displays irregular pale markings across a rich red body, with lighter pattern coverage along the dorsal area. Its highly detailed appearance makes Red Boa particularly attractive in planted aquariums and dedicated Caridina displays. As with other selectively bred Boa shrimp, pattern density, colour intensity and coverage can naturally vary between individual shrimp.
Red Boa Caridina are best kept in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable, soft and slightly acidic water. Active buffering substrate and remineralised RO water are commonly used to maintain suitable conditions with very low carbonate hardness. Avoid rapid changes in temperature, TDS and other water parameters. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp-specific diet. Consistent water quality and small, controlled maintenance changes are particularly important when keeping or breeding an established Red Boa colony.
