Red Galaxy is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its rich red coloration and contrasting pale-to-white Galaxy markings. The phenotype combines a strong red base with irregular patterned areas distributed across the head, carapace and abdomen, creating a detailed ornamental appearance. Pattern placement and coverage can differ considerably between individuals, with some shrimp developing denser markings while others retain larger areas of red pigmentation. This natural variation makes each Red Galaxy visually distinct while maintaining the characteristic red Galaxy phenotype.
Red Galaxy shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled soft-water aquarium with stable conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain low KH and mildly acidic conditions. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Careful acclimation and consistent water chemistry help support healthy moulting, long-term maintenance and breeding.
