Ocean Red is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its warm red-to-orange pigmentation, translucent body sections and subtle metallic appearance. The photographed shrimp shows concentrated reddish-orange colour around the head and lower abdomen, transitioning through clearer areas along the body. This distinctive contrast gives Ocean Red a lighter, more variable appearance than solid-coloured Caridina varieties. Colour intensity and coverage can develop as shrimp mature and may vary naturally between individuals, with differences in red saturation, transparency and pattern placement. Ocean Red is an appealing ornamental aquarium shrimp for Caridina keepers seeking an uncommon warm-coloured phenotype.
Ocean Red should be maintained in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable soft, slightly acidic water. A buffering active substrate and remineralised RO water are well suited to maintaining the low KH and controlled mineral content preferred by this Caridina line. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, TDS or water chemistry, particularly during water changes and acclimation. Stable conditions are more important than continually adjusting parameters, and newly introduced shrimp may temporarily show reduced colour while settling into the aquarium.
