Ocean Yellow is a Caridina shrimp distinguished by its bright yellow pigmentation and lightly translucent body, creating a vivid ornamental aquarium phenotype. The photographed shrimp shows strong lemon-yellow colour across the head, abdomen, tail and legs, with subtle variation in opacity and colour intensity through the body. Fine darker pigmentation is also visible around the head area, adding contrast to the otherwise predominantly yellow appearance. Individual Ocean Yellow shrimp may naturally vary in yellow intensity, transparency and coverage, making each specimen slightly different while retaining the characteristic warm yellow phenotype.
Ocean Yellow should be kept in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with clean, stable soft water. A buffering active substrate combined with remineralised RO water is a practical setup for maintaining the low KH and controlled mineral content typically preferred by specialised Caridina shrimp. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces, supplemented with a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid abrupt changes in temperature, TDS and water chemistry during maintenance or water changes. Careful acclimation is recommended when introducing new shrimp, with long-term stability taking priority over repeatedly adjusting parameters.
